The Foundation was formed by Elmwood community leaders and caring citizens in December 2021 to support activities which provide civic, culture, education, health, and human services improvements for the community of Elmwood and the surrounding area.

The Elmwood Community Foundation makes it easy for donors to support what they love and where they live through a variety of charitable funds including:
β Unrestricted General Fund β allows donors to make charitable contributions that are pooled and then distributed to community initiatives through a competitive grant making process.
β Designated Funds β supports the good work of specific community programs or projects.
β Field of Interest Funds β helps fund particular areas of charitable interests (youth, seniors, arts).
β Donor Advised Funds β allows donors to make an irrevocable tax-deductible contribution to the ECF in which the donor maintains advisory control and works with the ECF to direct distributions to qualified charitable organizations that matter most to the donor.
β Scholarship Funds β helps local students pursue their dreams and goals at attend institutions of higher learning.
